The Passion Of The Christ

I saw Mel Gibson’s “The Passion Of The Christ” for the first time ever yesterday, and I must say that I found it a very moving film. I have read the Bible many times but until yesterday I never really understood what Jesus must have gone through. Here is a man who had a destiny, a man who fully understood that destiny and the agony that it would mean for him personally and still he did not waver from it.

With every beating that his poor body and mind received he never once turned aside from the path he had to travel. The opportunities were there for him to take and still he remained resolute in his conviction, the conviction that it was only through his death and suffering that the rest of the world, if only they would believe, could be saved. Like a lamb led to slaughter, but more than a lamb for a lamb does not know where his path takes him.

The film portrays many things including mans cruelty, that there are those who take much enjoyment from the suffering of others. It also portrays man’s greed for power and the lengths they will go to in order not to lose their hold on other peoples minds.

Above all it shows the love that one man had for all of mankind, a man never prone to violence, one who always promoted love and forgiveness and peace. This post falls far short of what I want to say and portray, but unfortunately the the turmoil of emotions that I have within me will not come through as the written word.
