I’ve heard of something similar to this before but this one just came up on the news. This poor woman had an apartment to rent so she listed it on the Internet. She got an immediate reply form someone overseas. He sent her a $25,000 cheque and asked her to bank $3600 for the an advance rent and deposit the rest into an account which he was going to use to furnish the apartment.
She deposited the cheque, waited for it to clear and then followed his instructions. Unfortunately, even though the check cleared, it bounced and she is now out $21,400. She was scammed. So take warning people in case someone tries something similar with you.
