Awhile-back Rebecca Jane Clarke was found guilty of producing a child porn video and inciting a child to commit an indecent act. She received a two year bond and at the time I though the sentence was a bit light, but what the heck, who am I to second-guess an educated judicial of the law.
Reading the paper today I discovered that Clarke, who committed the offence in 2005 at the tender age of 20, thinks that her punishment is excessive and that it should be reduced. After all, how was she to know the two girls involved were 14 years old at the time, as she “honestly believed” they were 17!
Hello!! Does that excuse wash when a shop proprietor sells cigarettes to kids? No! Can those selling liquor use that excuse if caught selling alcohol to minors? No, so how in hell can she expect the judge to accept that excuse in this particular case? Hell she knew what she was doing, in fact the film shows her fondling the girls while saying “your breasts feel like a 10-year-old’s” and “I feel like a child molester”.
I suppose the main reason she is fighting the conviction is because it is interfering with her chosen career as a child counsellor. That has to be the biggest pile of bullshit I have heard for a long time. Hopefully the whole thing will backfire and the courts could impose a new harsher penalty. Well, your honour, if you happen to be reading this blog, don’t you dare overturn or even reduce her sentence and I am sure I am not alone in saying this. If anything you should maybe add 34 weeks of community service to her sentence, one week for each of the combined ages that she “believed” the girls to be. This community service could incorporate;
· Cleaning graffiti off the walls of our public toilets
· Searching for syringes on public beaches while barefoot
· Removing all the junk exposed by receding waters in our rivers due to the drought.
· Picking up litter in our parks
Whatever you do, make sure that she is refused any employment where she would have contact with impressionable children.

I can’t believe that she didn’t know how old those girls were. They were the same age my daughter is now, and there is no way in hell that anyone could NOT know how old she is. And the fact that she said she felt like a “child molester” in the video should have sent up red signals to the entire judiciary committee.

If this case would have involved a man, his ass would have been sent to jail in a minute, and there would have been no thoughts of sentence reduction. This woman should never be allowed to be around children in any fashion.
