Should Australia Lead By Example On Emission Plans?

This is one of the main reasons that Rudd and his cronies give for pushing for the carbon emissions trading scheme. He reckons that we cannot expect others to follow suit if we do not lead the way. The big question is will it make a difference? I suppose one can look at history for an answer to this question as Australia has tried to lead the way on more than one occasion. Take for example the removal of tarrifs on certain products where we insist on doing this and the rest of the world is not following suit to the disadvantage of our producers and manufacturing industries.

I am afraid that Rudd’s cruddy ideas is just a gamble and one where the odds are not stacked in our favour. It may well cost us a whole heap of money and jobs, especially when business decide to move overseas where they do not have restrictions on emissions.
