De Sponsor Loterij Email IS A Total Scam

I think that because of the current economic crisis everybody should be very aware that scammers will try to take advantage of those looking for an easy way out of their financial troubles. I want everyone to remember one thing when they receive anything in the mail, and that is If It Sounds Too Good To Be True, It Probably Is A Bloody Scam!

Take this email I received as an example.

You have won 1,000,000.00.Euros in De Sponsor Loterij Email
Sweepskas Program Corporation, held on the 16th of January, 2009 in The Netherlands.
Your email address was selected via computer ballot along with
other 50 million email addresses collected from the web internet accross the
globe and your email came up with a golden ticket number.We write to officially notify you
of this award and to advise you to contact the processing office immediately for the cliam.Contact person, Kelly Makata.

It looks innocent enough doesn’t it? They are not asking for any vital details or anything are they. The website looks official enough, even though it isn’t in English. Perhaps you should reply to the email. DON’T! That is where they will trap you. At the very least your confirmation of receipt of the email will tell them that the email is actually legit and you will now be bombarded with more spam. At the worst they will manage to con you into giving them the details they wanted or even in parting with some money so that they can courier you your winnings. Its all total BULLSHIT so don’t fall for it.
