Security@BankofAmerica.com Phishing Email

If you have received the following email from the Bank Of America, take my advice and delete it immediately. The address will take you to a site that is a forgery of the real site, one that is designed to trick you out of your personal information. I find it necessary to post this warning because I know that there will be a lot of unsuspecting people that may fall for it were they not to see this warning.

Dear Valued Customer

During our regularly scheduled account maintenance and verification procedures, we have detected a slight error in your account information.

This might be due to either of the following reasons:

1. A recent change in your personal information ( i.e.change of address).
2. Submiting invalid information during the initial sign up process.
3. An inability to accurately verify your selected option of payment due to an internal error within our processors.

As a result, we require you to click the link below and confirm your account information.

Click here to continue (link removed) However, If your account information is not confirmed and verified within a certain period of time then your ability to access your account would become restricted.

Thank you

Believe me, they will be thanking you if you are stupid enough to still click that link even after reading this post. DON’T DO IT!

For awhile, I was getting a lot of these types of emails, but once the banks started having problems, they seemed to have stopped for some reason. Not that I’m depressed, because I knew better either way.
