Why Google Disabled Adsense Ads On This Blog

Yep, you won’t see anymore Adsense ads on this blog because Google in all it’s wisdom decided that I violated their TOS by writing my satirical post on penile extensions. Take a look at the email they sent me.

Hello,

While reviewing your account, we noticed that you are currently displaying Google ads in a manner that is not compliant with our policies. For instance, we found violations of AdSense policies on pages such as http://www.loadofbullshit.com/2008/05/20/penile-extensions-now-available-via-the-penis-extender-deluxe/.
Please note that this URL is an example and that the same violations may exist on other pages of your website.

As stated in our program policies, AdSense publishers are not permitted to place Google ads on pages with adult or mature content. This includes any content that is sexual in intent or may not be considered family-safe.

As a result, we have disabled ad serving to the site.

Your AdSense account remains active. However, we strongly suggest that you take the time to review our program policies
(https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=48182&stc=aspe-2pp-en
) to ensure that all of your remaining pages are in compliance.

Please note that we may disable your account if further violations are found in the future.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team

In essence Sites with Adsense may not include or link to the following:

  • Pornography, adult or mature content
  • Violent content
  • Content related to racial intolerance or advocacy against any individual, group or organisation
  • Excessive profanity
  • Hacking/cracking content
  • Gambling or casino-related content
  • Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia content
  • Sales of beer or hard alcohol
  • Sales of tobacco or tobacco-related products
  • Sales of prescription drugs
  • Sales of weapons or ammunition (e.g. firearms, firearm components, fighting knives, stun guns)

  • Sales or distribution of coursework or student essays
  • Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites or reading emails
  • Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others

Strange that they picked on that particular post because I don’t think that it violated any of the above points. OK, maybe if you were going to stretch it some you may say it could be considered of an adult nature but you’d have to be a puritan to go that far. And how about my mate Mitch you suffered the same fate because he wrote a post on cleavage! Now if that isn’t bullshit I don’t know what is.

Man, if you can’t write about cleavage what else can’t you write about? heaven forbid if you used the word sex in  your post. I’m sure that a human never read our posts and that Google relied on the decision from some random Spider Bot or web crawler. If this is true than all post could fall foul of these moronic scripts that scrounge the net looking for what they believe to be violations.

Too bad if you fall foul of their search because once you’ve been disabled they won’t listen to reason as this reply to my email shows.

Hello,

Thanks for your email. However, please be aware that because your site was found to be in violation of our program policies, it is no longer eligible for participation in the AdSense program.

Your account remains active, and you are welcome to place Google ads on other sites which comply with AdSense policies.

Yep, they just don’t care about the little guys, the heartless bastards. What they fail t realize is that they can’t survive with out us. It’s only because we graciously place their ads on our blogs and websites that they’re about to fleece millions of dollars from advertisers! Without us they would lose their cash cow. In reality they should have a people that would take the time to listen to our grievances when this sort of thing occurs, so they can sort the good from the bad but they just don’t seem to care.

If this has happened to you, you may be interested in my post, There IS Life After Google Adsense!

You got this one right, Sire. Then again, you’ve read about my little battle with eBay, another large conglomerate that seems to not really care much about customer service, especially because we’re the little guys who can’t do them any good. Weasels!

    1. BS Artist

Yep, too bad they survive on the sweat of all the little guys and the only reason they get away with it is they know us little guys won’t get together to stand up for ourselves.

  2. Axel

Actually is not Google AdSense fault, is ours , the publisher because we endure this. If we all would just stand up and take out our adsense ads they won’t be such an “heartless bastards”.
I know this is hard to do, but I think in the future something must happen or Google will own us like slaves and pay us 0,01$ per click, suspend our accounts for not good reasons or keep our account live but wont pay us a dime.

    1. BS Artist

I agree with you Axel. Who knows, maybe one day we will get together and teach the big boys a lesson.

Wow… considering what they fill their search engine with, it seems strange to have this restriction. Why not just have a rule that says that you have to identify your site as having potentially PG rated material? I read Mitch’s page… it certainly was more tame than what you can see on television at 4 in the afternoon in the United States, where the sensitivity seems to run very high.

    Odd.

    1. BS Artist

Yep, it certainly is odd, but I think the problem lies in the fact that no human eye has actually seen these posts to make the right decision. I think it’s all left up to web crawlers and we know how dumb they are.

You’d expect for a multi billions business to have a team that checks such pages, after the page/website was flagged by a bot or what they use. But no human reviews the pages, they just send this useless emails to everyone. I got the same message some time ago, not even sure why 🙂
    Patel

    1. BS Artist

That’s exactly what I thought Urvisha, but it seems that they don’t consider us important enough to do that.

      1. Urvisha Patel

Yap, they don’t care, they’re Google..I’ve dealt with this attitude many times in the past

I do have to say thank you for the warning though. Not sure I have or will be posting anything related to the topic of sex. But good to know that I should be careful about it if I choose to use AdSense.

    1. BS Artist

I suggest you be careful all the same Alexander because even the most innocent post could be suspect when Google is concerned.
