There are many saying that Rudd’s wife Theresa Rein should quit her job and others that say she should not. What is surprising is that support for her position all comes from the female persuasion. They seem to feel that if she was to quit her job it would set back women’s rights and send out the message that women should not compete in a man’s world.
Normally I would say this is true except for the fact that her company, a Brisbane based job recruitment firm, relies heavily on lucrative government contracts. If her husband was to win leadership I would say there was a definite conflict of interest. Maybe she shouldn’t be forced to quit, but if she wants her husband to succeed in his political career I think she should seriously consider it.
