Is Kevin Rudd What Australia Needs?

This is a very important question we should all be asking ourselves. It seems that according to recent polls Australians want Rudd, because they feel “we need a change.” I am very worried that he may actually get in and it is not because I am being swayed by any of the Liberals so called ‘scare tactics.’

I think as Australians when we go to vote we should forget the “what am I going to get out of it” or “what’s in it for me” mentality and rather have the ‘what is good for Australia’ attitude, because if Australia prospers then it will flow onto all Australians. If Australia suffers we all suffer.

Rudd says if he gets in he will piss off the AWA’s and install a simple, fair and flexible work laws. This is all well and good if the business community agreed with it, but unfortunately the majority think scrapping AWA’s will actually be a step backwards and will lead to more unemployment.

Then he reckon he will bring back the ‘unfair dismissal laws.’ Now, that is really unfair to the employers. If an employee is doing the right job, no employer would get rid of him and go through all the hassle of training a new one. I’m pretty sure there are stats to show that unemployment went down once this law was scrapped, and that is because a lot of small businesses decided that because they no longer had to be encumbered with useless layabouts they would take a chance on employing people.

Now I am not saying that there aren’t unscrupulous employers out there who will take advantage of this, but these sorts of wankers will always exist and the Government should make an example of them by issuing large fines.

We’ve been lucky because the Liberal government has managed the country in such a fashion that there is a surplus and they have given the Australian people some back of that in the form of Tax cuts. I don’t remember getting many tax cuts from Labor and I am a little worried that if they get in power and we go back to being in the red instead of the black, it will only hurt all Australians.

So I say again, Is Kevin Rudd what Australia needs?
