Apparently in 1999 a couple from Elizabeth North were involved in an accident where their stationary van was hit in the rear by a Commodore. Now they had hoped to get $160,000 as compensation for the accident as he claimed that he suffered nausea, severe headaches and pain in his back leg and knees. Due to these injuries he was unable to continue work or even play with his children.
Well last week it was proved that the car that hit them was only going 5km per hour, and that they had been “deliberately untruthful”. As a result the courts ruled that they had to pay the Motor Accident Commissions full legal cost of $60,878 and that the wife had to repay $43,214.
