If you read this article you will see that a significant percentage of global warming is due to the methane gas that animals such as cows emit as they go farting around the world’s farms. Whereas some people are trying to limit the amount of gases emitted from these animals by controlling what they eat, Aussie scientists have come up with a more idea.
They’ve notice that kangaroos do not emit methane gases and they have worked out that it is due to special bacteria in their gut, so even though they may fart as much as the best of us, it is methane free. Scientists are now trying to devise of a way of transferring the bacteria to cattle and sheep. If they succeed we will have the first methane free cattle and sheep in the world. Now if we can only get rid of the smell.
