St. Luke 20;22-25

I intend to have a Biblical post as part of my Blog! These will be at random and from the King James Version of the Bible, though I have other versions I like the colourful language of this one. Where possible I will include my interpretation.

Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar or no?
But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Show me a penny. Whose image and inscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar’s.
And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.

This question was asked by men sent by the Jewish cheif preists in order to try and catch Jesus out. They were obviously expecting him to tell them it wasn’t necessary to pay taxes, maybe they expected him to tell them that the money would be better off spent for godly things (tithing). This would of course get Jesus into trouble with the Romans!
Jesus however, puts the question back onto them, and his response to to their reply was a classic. Money, though it can cause a lot of good if used wisely, to a lot of people its like a noose around their neck. Jesus to me is telling them not to hold any importance to money and worldly things, but rather to rely on God, and the more important wealth that He could bring.
