This is a great shot Of Mount Etna erupting, something that it does quite regularly yet even so the surrounding villages rarely suffer any damage. As a precaution though, the local airport at Catania which is based at the bottom of the volcano does close at night.
I would suggest that the regularity of the eruptions is probably a good thing as it may be the main reason why the eruptions are small as it regularly releases the pressure. Imagine what may happen if the there was a pressure buildup?
