Have you ever wondered what chia pets were? Probably not if your an American but for those of you who are not so blessed, chia pets originated in the 1980 and developed into quite a fad. Originally they were animal forms in which moistened chia seed were planted in its grooved clay figurine body. The seeds then sprouted forming what looked like hair.

These days the chia pets have gone to celebrity status as you can now get Chia Bart, Chia Homer, Chia Shrek and the list goes on. This would still make unique gifts for many kids.
