Darwing To Adelaide Running On The Sun

Yep, it’s time for the famous Solar race which has been held for twice a year since 1987. The contestants have to cover 3000 km (1863 miles) using only solar energy to power the cars. The race from Darwin to Adelaide involves crossing a desert where temperatures can exceed 50 degree centigrade.

The racers come from 17 countries and the current record of 29 hours and 11 minute is held by three times winner Nuon Solar from the Netherlands. Thousands will watch the race thrilled by the futuristic look of these solar powered cars.
