Passenger Liner Hits Iceberg In Antartic Waters

I reckon that after paying all that money, $13,000 for a 19 day Antarctic cruise, the last thing you would expect is to run into an iceberg and sink. Sure you figure you would see a few but not actually hit one and then sustain enough damage to sink your cruise ship. Well thats what happened and there were at least 10 Aussies among the 154 passengers and crew who were pulled from life boats in the icy waters.

Although the ship was built to withstand the impact of floating ice, it wasn’t enough to stop a fist sized hole from appearing below the hull. In the end the ship sank 2000m to the ocean floor.
