I know most of you will find this a shocking claim, but just look at the facts! Everyone keeps going on and on about how wonderful his American accent is. And they’re right! But have you noticed when it comes to his “British” accent…….eh, not so much.
It is true my fellow bloggers. Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we? Does anyone remember the hilarious British TV show ‘Absolutely Fabulous’? Remember how suddenly American TV execs wanted to copy it??? Remember how awful it was???? And, that’s not all! There are simply dozens of wonderful British television shows that were stolen, repackaged and badly made here in the good ol’ United States of Thievin’!
‘Antiques Roadshow’ ~ began as British, now boring American TV show. ‘Men Behaving Badly’ ~ funny, funny British sitcom, now cancelled boring American sitcom. The list is endless!
‘Changing rooms’ = ‘Trading Spaces’
‘Cold Feet’ = ‘Cold Feet’
‘Coupling’ = ‘Coupling’
It just goes on and on! How long have you wondered how this tragedy can happen when the entire world knows we have no unique ideas of our own?? Well, I tell you, the answer is HUGH LAURIE! Back in the early 80’s he was recruited by the American Broadcasting System to infiltrate the BBC. He was promised wealth and acclaim and maybe even an Emmy if he spied on the British and brought back television shows we could claim as our own!
And, it looks like it has worked my friends. Only a couple short years ago we all would have said “Hugh WHO??”. Now, suddenly he’s on the cover of TV Guide! Come on, really! Did anyone actually notice him in ‘Stuart Little’??
It is sad, it is wrong, but there is little we can do about it. Everyone fully believes he’s British, so there’s no way to prove it. British??? PLEASE, he’s married! Everyone knows British men are all GAY!
Dispite the outrage I know you are all feeling right now, DO NOT – I REPEAT, DO NOT try to apprehend Hugh Laurie on your own. Also, don’t call the police…….they’ll only laugh at you.
