Is Rudds 2020 Summit A Pile Of BS?

The weekend has past and the talkfest that involved the nation’s so called 1000 best and brightest has come up with a myriad of ideas. So, the big question that comes to mind is not only how important the 2020 summit was but whether or not Rudd’s government will take all the points into consideration. After all if he doesn’t then the whole thing was a total waste of time.

The one point that I thought did not even bear mentioning was all the talk of becoming a Republic, especially considering there are so many more important points worth considering, such as global warming and the dire state of the River Murray, our country’s virtual life blood. The Government obviously though that talk of becoming a republic was more important seeing how they seemed to stack the 2020 Summit panel with a whole heap of pro-republicans.

This question perhaps is one that should be offered to the nation and should not be considered by a handful of hand picked participants. I make a point of reading the Advertiser’s Voteline everyday to see how people vote on certain topics. Most topics solicit under a 100 responses, some a bit over 100, but yesterdays topic, ‘Should Australia Become A Republic?’ enticed 661 callers to respond, which was a phenomenal result. Of all the callers, 19% said yes and 81% said no!

All we have to do now is wait and see how many of the Summit’s issues are taken on by Rudd’s political mates.
