The International Whaling Commission is holding the International Whaling Commission in Chile. While it is the general consensus that the majority of the world is against killing whales it is obvious that the Japanese don’t give a shit as they threaten to pull out of the commission if a 22 year old ban is not lifted.
They continue to use the bullshit excuse that it is necessary to continue their experiment which involves killing hundreds of whales every year. What I want to know is how far their experimenting has gone and what the results are to date. Perhaps if they could regurgitate the information needed we could understand their stance, but I feel that no such data exist.
Peter Garrets idea that the Japanese should consider whale-watching instead of whale-hunting as way of making money is ludicrous. If they exist on whale hunting they should do it in their own backyard and not infringe in other Nation’s waters. Doesn’t seem too hard to enforce as long as you don’t take into consideration such factors as world trade and shit. I suppose it comes down to what is really important.
